weird network problems – anything shouts at everything

preamble – analogies Imagine you have a car. Your car is something that needs to be maintained, so sometimes you fill in a bit of engine oil. Especially when it lights up with the check oil light. Similar to that, a computer sometimes asks for updates so you install them. Imagine if your car engine oil suddenly causes the side effect that you’re driving along nicely, but suddenly your car changes. Your Steering wheel is suddenly on the right shotgun seat, while the driving pedals are still on the left side. You’re asking for the car mechanic, but even the

Change Windows Server 2019 Evaluation edition to Standard

It would make sense to think that when you start with a Windows Evaluation edition and you have spend a lot of time to make it work in your infrastructure and you are happy with it and what to use it, that it would be easy to change it into a regular version. Something like: buy a licence, add the licence key and you are done. But that is not how it works. A Windows Evaluation server works for 180 days and after that it will simply stop. I always had a rule that I won’t fly to neighboring countries, but e.g. to Serbia I took a flight many times. Yet, we have decided to change this. Things cannot continue how it is, as it’s just not really environmentally friendly – there are

The Openfactory Christmas party

This year the Openfactory Christmas party had a difference. The party also coincided with the 10 year anniversary of Openfactory. This meant that this year we were going to need an extra big pan for the cheese. The Openfactory Christmas party has become a bit of a tradition now. It is the time of year where can relax a little and get together with colleagues and other people we collaborate or work with. Each year the conversations becomes more interesting as we and our network grow. As with our (net) work, we like to keep things low-key, in the case
